paper CO_ColombianAppliedLinguisticsJournaltxt4 - : Lastly, it should be remembered that sharing our own ideas with others can be beneficial in many obvious ways. As noted by Wallace (1998), sometimes, the mere necessity of having to articulate our ideas to an audience can help us to develop them in ways that might not otherwise have happened. The experience I have described here made teacher-writers more familiar with the process of writing for a professional audience and more at ease with reading more widely (Burton and Mickan: 1993 ). It would then be relevant to explore to what extent teacher-researchers as writers have engaged in or continued to read and write professional documents since participating in the in-service programme they studied at the University. Likewise, further actions could focus on exploring to what extent teachers' publications reach the academic communities they are intended for and generate reflections, debates, networking or some sort of communication.

paper CO_ColombianAppliedLinguisticsJournaltxt75 - : The study focuses on the conception of writing as process as defined by White and Arndt (1996). They suggest that procedural activities to perform the writing process. The authors state that writing is a thinking process in its own right. It demands conscious intellectual effort, which usually has to be sustained over a considerable period of time. The authors also argue that writing is a form of problem solving which involves diverse processes. They present six general activities in the process of writing: generating (brainstorming, using questions, making notes, and using visuals ), focusing (discovering main ideas, considering purpose, considering audience, considering form), structuring ( ordering information, experimenting with arrangements, relating structure to focal idea), drafting ( beginning, adding and ending information), evaluating ( assessing the draft, responding and conferencing), and reviewing (checking, editing, correcting and marking).

Secondly, the type (direct or indirect) and form of feedback chosen (coding, brief grammar explanation or highlighting) has to be methodical and rigorous. The systematic approach of using WCF to improve writing skills can be enhanced by using a strategy that emphasizes the process of writing itself: the writing portfolio . Thus, this academic record would help self-awareness on frequent language errors along with the systematic feedback received. Due to this fact, students would improve accuracy.

paper CO_Lenguajetxt150 - : Four students mentioned the interference with the mother tongue as a difficulty in the written production. Thus, interlingual problems are present in the process of writing, students ideas were “es inevitable uno siempre pensar en español pues porque es la lengua de uno” or “escribo como cuando hablo en español” . It can be inferred that a syntactic interference exists in the production of students because it seems that students translate directly from Spanish. From the example “hasta en el español comete este tipo de errores”, it can be inferred that the source of the error is a discourse interference considering the idea that students do not have the habit to produce paragraphs in their written production.
